Parents Who Host Lose the Most
About Us

The Clinton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is a group of community agencies and partners concerned with the health and well-being of Clinton County youth.  Our special focus is the prevention of drug use and abuse among students and Clinton County residents.  The Coalition is funded by Mid-South Substance Abuse Commission, the coordinating agency for substance abuse prevention and treatment in the central Michigan region, as well as other state, local and federal grants.  Coalition members volunteer their time to collect and analyze local data on the use of substances, promote effective, model programs and educational curriculum in our schools, support youth advocacy and involvement in groups such as SADD, Student Council, National Honors Society and other community-focused student groups.  Listed below are some of our activities and campaigns for the 2010 year:

  • Parent Forums in Clinton County communities to discuss substance abuse issues, examine local student survey data on substance use and abuse, and discuss concerns with student and community participants.  The Coalition will help organize and promote the event and provide resources for parents and families.  Call 989-224-5303 to schedule a forum in your community.
  • Parents Who Host Lose the Most is a national awareness campaign focusing on teen access to alcohol and drugs in the home and at the homes of friends.  This campaign encourages parents to set boundaries for their teens, keeping them safe and drug-free.  Clinton County local survey data shows that the majority of underage alcohol users obtain alcohol from family and friends, as opposed to purchasing it from local vendors.
  • The Coalition works with law enforcement to check the compliance levels of local alcohol and tobacco vendors and to provide vendor education on laws, new license styles and signage, and recognizing underage purchasers.  We strongly support raising the awareness of communities regarding the multiple sources of underage access to alcohol and other drugs.  We also participate in and support local Safe Prom and Safe Graduation efforts.
  • All of our monthly meetings are open to everyone and we welcome your attendance!  Call 989-224-5303 for more information.
